The Nürburgring Nordschleife

Hidden in a German forest is the ultimate driving experience: the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Apparently one of the toughest and most dangerous circuits in the world (the track stopped being used for F1 after Niki Lauda almost died there in 1976), it's 13 miles long and has a lot of bends.

On certain days at specified times, the track is open to the public. During these public sessions, the track is a one-way toll-road with no speed limit (!!). We love road trips and driving holidays so I kind of like the sound of pretending to be a F1 driver for the day :)

The views look pretty spectacular too...

Tennis Holiday

WT is desperate to go on a tennis holiday and I think I've found somewhere which might be fun for me too: Curtain Bluff in Antigua.

Lisbon

Writing the last post reminded me that we went to Lisbon not that long ago. It's gorgeous and totally underrated.

We went for the weekend and stayed at Castilho House.

On the Saturday morning, we visited Sao Jorge Castle, wandered around the flea market - Fiera da Ladra - and saw the Se Cathedral of Lisbon before taking the vintage yellow Tram 28.

We stopped for lunch at Restaurante Tagide, which was delicious and has a wonderful view, before heading to the Torre de Belem and the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos.

Early evening we took the boat over to Cacilhas and walked along the river to take the elevator to reach the Cristo de Rei. The views of downtown Lisbon were spectacular.

On the Sunday we went to Sintra to see Pena Palace, the Palacio Nacional de Sintra and Monserrate Park.
